Maintenance Engineer – Automated Logistics
Over de functie
Je nieuwe baan
Important location requirement: To be considered for this position, you must already live and be officially registered in the Netherlands within approximately 35 km of Utrecht. Relocation during or after the recruitment process is not possible for this vacancy.
Are you currently working as a Maintenance Engineer, Field Service Engineer, Electrical Maintenance Engineer, Electromechanical Engineer, Service Engineer or Senior Service Technician? Your current job title matters less than your technical level and what you can do.
As a Maintenance Engineer, you will join an international maintenance team at one fixed, highly automated logistics site in Utrecht. Together, you keep approximately 14 kilometres of automated systems running 24/7.
Your work combines electrical, mechanical and control-related maintenance. One moment you are tracing an electrical fault or replacing a damaged sensor; the next you may be working on a motor, bearing, shaft or conveyor system. You perform preventive and corrective maintenance, troubleshoot complex faults and investigate root causes to prevent failures from happening again.
Experience with Siemens S7/TIA Portal, Profinet, CAN-bus or comparable industrial control systems is a strong advantage. You do not need to know every system from day one, but you should bring a solid electrical and controls background and feel comfortable diagnosing faults in automated equipment. Further system knowledge can be developed through internal training and on-the-job learning.
You will be part of an international maintenance organisation of around 38 professionals. During each shift, you work in a team of 6–7 colleagues and normally carry out technical work together with one or two team members.
The working language is English; Dutch is not required.
Maintenance can be unpredictable: one shift may be quiet, while the next requires immediate troubleshooting to keep the customer’s operation running.
You work in a 5-shift schedule:
2 morning shifts: 06:00–14:30
2 afternoon shifts: 14:00–22:30
2 night shifts: 22:00–06:30
followed by 4 days off
You start directly in your own shift team, supported by experienced colleagues, structured on-the-job training and an extensive internal learning platform.
Over het bedrijf
You will work at one fixed, modern and highly automated logistics location in Utrecht. An international maintenance organisation is responsible for keeping a large automated material-handling installation operating 24/7.
The technical environment combines mechanical systems, electrical engineering and industrial automation. You will work with experienced maintenance professionals from different backgrounds in an organisation where safety, teamwork, technical development and long-term employment are taken seriously.
Wat we jou bieden
What we offer you is a technically challenging job in a modern, international environment, combined with a strong employment package and plenty of time off.
A base salary of €3,600–€4,250 gross per month, depending on your experience and electrical knowledge, plus a 30% shift allowance. This brings your total monthly salary to approximately €4,680–€5,525 gross.
A permanent contract from day one, with a two-month probation period, plus 8% holiday allowance.
A 5-shift schedule in which you work an average of approximately 35.8 hours per week while being paid for 38 hours, with 4 consecutive days off after every 6 shifts.
32 annual leave days, travel allowance of €0.23 per kilometre and additional benefits under the Dutch Metal & Engineering collective labour agreement.
Extensive on-the-job training, internal and external courses and technical certifications, with plenty of opportunities to keep developing your electrical, automation and maintenance skills.
Real career opportunities within an international, people-focused technical organisation, from further specialisation as an Engineer to positions in coordination, leadership or maintenance management.
You will work at one fixed, clean and highly automated logistics location, surrounded by modern technology and colleagues from different countries. The company invests in safety, development and long-term employment (not just in filling the next shift).
Wat we van jou verwachten
You are a hands-on Maintenance Engineer who enjoys troubleshooting, understands electrical systems and likes working on complex automated equipment rather than behind a desk.
MBO 3/4 level in Electrical Engineering, Mechatronics or equivalent, combined with practical experience in machine maintenance, automation or a comparable technical environment.
Strong practical knowledge of electrical troubleshooting, combined with enough mechanical knowledge to work on sensors, motors, drives, bearings, shafts and other machine components.
Experience with Siemens S7/TIA Portal, Profinet, CAN-bus or comparable industrial control systems is strongly preferred. You do not need to know every system from day one.
Good spoken and written English and sufficient computer skills to document maintenance, repairs and shift handovers. Dutch is not required.
You are a team player: safety-conscious, responsible, open in your communication and customer-oriented.
You are willing to work the full 5-shift 2-2-2-4 schedule, currently live within reasonable commuting distance of Utrecht (approximately 35 km) and have your own transport. You must be legally able to work in the Netherlands; candidates already residing in the Netherlands with Highly Skilled Migrant status may also be considered if the applicable IND requirements can be met.
A NEN 3140 qualification is an advantage. If your electrical background is strong enough, additional technical training and certification can be provided internally.
